Mark Hinkson, D.O.
The well-known Englishman, Francis Atterbury once said, “It’s attention to detail that makes the difference between the average and stunning!”. Dr. Hinkson is truly known to embody this saying in every aspect of treating patients here at Mountain West Dermatology.
Dr. Hinkson was born and raised in the central valley of California. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Chile Concepcion Mission where he learned to speak Spanish which he continues to use in the clinic today. Upon his return, he attended Brigham Young University where he graduated with degrees in microbiology and chemistry. He received his medical training from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Misssouri and graduated in the top 10% of his class. After graduating from medical school as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, he completed a traditional rotating internship in upstate New York at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center followed by a dermatology residency program at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton, Michigan. Upon completion of his residency in 2004, he moved to Idaho Falls with his wife and children where he opened up his practice at Mountain West Dermatology.
Dr. Hinkson is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Ostheopathic College of Dermatology (AOCD), and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). He is licensed to practice medicine in Idaho as a board-certified dermatologist which signifies his achievement and dedication to the highest standards of competency of knowledge and experience within the filed of dermatology.
Patients love Dr. Hinkson’s calming and gentle mannerisms. He is kind, professional, conservative and cautious. Rob Willis, PA-C
Whether it is just from being born and raised in Idaho Falls or from seeing him regularly performing on stage in community productions and on film, one of the most common things people say when they meet Rob is, “Hey, I know you!”. And it’s true- – he practically knows everyone who walks through our doors. If by some chance you don’t know him already, by the time you are through with your visit, you are well-acquainted and feel like longtime friends with his down-to-earth approach and genuine concern for you and your family.
Rob attended Ricks College then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Belgium and France. Upon his return, he attended Brigham Young University, earning his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health & Human Performance. He received his medical training from the perennially top-ranked University of Utah Physician Assistant Program, graduating in 2003 with a Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree. He is accredited by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is a Fellow Member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA). He joined Mountain West Dermatology in 2008 and was personally trained by Dr. Hinkson.
Rob diagnosis and treats all skin conditions of all ages but is particularly skilled with our pediatric and teenage patients. He has a large loyal following due to his commitment to thoroughly educating patients and taking the time necessary on every aspect of their care and treatment. His empathy concerning their skin struggles is reassuring and appreciated by patients and parents alike. He strives to make patients truly feel confident in themselves and is well-known to go the extra mile to help everyone achieve treatment success.
Before entering into medicine, Rob studied art and design and still loves to do various art projects in his free time. He has a natural talent and true artistic eye for detail that he insists on applying to his approach to your medical care and surgical procedures. He also loves acting and performing on stage in community musical productions, often starring in the comedic roles. After spending time with him in a visit, you will feel his sincere interest in you and your personal life and also leave with a smile on your face! Rob wants you to feel good about your skin and will do everything he can to help you.

Wendy Christiansen
Wendy is an outdoor country girl at heart who loves anxiously awaiting the signal of spring in Idaho so she can put on her wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen and head outside to be in her flower and vegetable gardens! She loves getting her hands deep in the soil, weeding, fertilizing, pruning and cultivating everything to make the most healthy, beautiful and prosperous result that she can be proud of and show off!
When it comes to taking care of your skin, Wendy uses that same natural “green thumb” to get deep into your skin’s needs, pamper you and cultivate lasting results you are looking for to be proud of and show off as well!
Having been raised in Portland, Oregon, Wendy embraces diversity in all areas of her life and is always looking for the good around her and finds the positive in all things. She attended Brigham Young University- Idaho and earned an Associate of Science degree in Marriage and Family Relations. She then attended the highly-regarded SkinScience Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah and received her Master Esthetics License in 2007. She has also had the opportunity to use her love for teaching and educating to be an instructor for the SkinScience Institute. We were very fortunate to have Wendy join our staff in 2018 where she runs the Esthetics extension of Mountain West Dermatology providing treatments and solutions for all ages.
Wendy is particularly known for being friendly, easy to talk and sincere. She individually connects with people in a nonjudgmental way, helps them feel relaxed and easily becomes a good friend. Her gentle hand and extraordinary eye for detail makes you appreciate her ability to see the overall picture while still finding the extra features to fine tune and give you that confidence in yourself. She is ever mindful of helping you out and listening to you skin care goals and will provide you with the solutions and suggestions that will give you the results you want without being pushy and staying within your budget. She is knowledgeable and confident in her craft and wants you to achieve that same confidence in your skin.
